Legal Issues in the Fine Arts

Purpose: The activities that comprise the fine arts (band, choir, visual and theater arts, dance, and spirit squads) are some of America's most popular high school activities. There is often intense competition to be selected for a performance squad or team, and organized competitions in the area of fine arts have become increasingly popular. The pursuit of honors, awards, and scholarships is big business! So, it's not surprising that legal challenges have arisen.
