Student Rights & Responsibilities

Schwartz & Eichelbaum provides services to school districts on many aspects of student issues.

Our attorneys advise districts regarding all stages of student discipline including consulting with school administrators, suspensions, expulsions, and placement in disciplinary alternative educational programs or juvenile justice facilities. We are involved in student discipline hearings before the school board of trustees, superintendents, and TEA.

Student-to-Student, Teacher-to-Student and Student-to-Teacher sexual harassment claims are on the rise. Schwartz & Eichelbaum is a leader in counseling districts and representing districts when these issues arise. We also provide our expertise to districts regarding child abuse reporting, student grievances, student records, civil rights matters initiated by students, and parental rights. Our attorneys won the first challenge to a Texas district's drug testing policy after the U.S. Supreme Court approved testing for all extracurricular activities.
