Carol, an associate in our Plano office, received her Juris
Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of
Law. She has an extensive background in public education as a
teacher, librarian, administrator, and university professor.
Carol assists districts with intellectual property issues such
as registration of copyrights and trademarks as well as licensing
entities to use district trademarks and logos, and counseling
educators on the use of the works of others. She is a highly sought
presenter on all aspects of copyright and school technology
issues. She has presented for school districts, curriculum
organizations, and educational associations across the country. She
also publishes in both the educational and legal communities. Her
latest article, on the legal implications of cloud computing, was
published by the Council of School Attorneys, a division of the
National School Board Association.
While advising clients on a broad range of topics, Carol has
focused on employment litigation and regulatory issues, including
open records requests. In addition, she assists districts to
negotiate oil and gas leases, and other real estate
transactions.
Carol is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Texas, the
United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States
District Courts of the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western
Districts of Texas. She is a member of the American Bar
Association, the School and Intellectual Property Law sections of
the Texas Bar, as well as the National School Board Association's
Council of School Attorneys, the Texas Council of School Attorneys,
and the Government Law section of the Dallas Bar Association.

Intellectual Property: Mining Gold in Your Backyard, has
been published in The School Administrator, a publication of the
American Association of School Administrators. A forthcoming
article on the legal implications of cloud computing was published
in December, 2011 by the Council of School Attorneys, a division of
the National School Board Association.
