Scott, an Associate in our Plano office, is no stranger to Texas public schools. An experienced school attorney, he began his career as a Special Education Teacher, teaching for ten years for school districts in the Austin area. While teaching, Scott led fellow teachers as an ARD Coordinator, Team Leader, and Mentor Teacher.
Scott received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Spanish minor from the University of Texas at Austin. Scott received his Juris Doctor from the SMU Dedman School of Law, graduating cum laude. He served as Staff Editor of the SMU Law Review Association, and had his casenote on employment law published.
As a school lawyer, Scott has focused on governance, administrative proceedings and litigation, having represented school districts in employment matters, student issues, special education due process hearings, and civil rights complaints.
Scott is a member of the State Bar of Texas, National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys, Texas Council of School Attorneys, American Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, Texas Association of Young Lawyers, and the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. Scott is admitted to practice law before state courts of Texas; the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas; and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
